Recipes for 6-12 months

  Time flies and from being a new born baby happily feeding on mother's milk,he is soon out grown the early months.Seems like in a wink of eye the baby is already months older.Reaching the first milestone, its time to introduce water and weaning food in the growth of the baby.

     A baby is ready for solid food when.

  •       He is still hungry after breastfeeding

  •    Always feed freshly cooked food
  •    Always have a gap of 3 days between two new foods

Easy recipes for 6 months baby

1.Ragi porridge:

2 tbsp Ragi powder
1 tsp almond powder
1 cup milk
2 tbsp sugar
a pinch nutmeg

Method: Roast ragi powder in ghee.Add milk slowly.Keep stirring taking care no lumps are formed.Add sugar cardamom nutmeg and almond powder.Keep a semi solid consistency.A delicious breakfast is ready for your baby.


1 apple
 1 tbsp sugar optional
Method: Rinse,peel and chop apple.Place them in a sauce pan.Add enough water to cover the apples.Simmer on a low flame and cook until soft.Add cinnamon.Mash and make a puree.and its ready to eat.


Rice 2 tbsp
1 tbsp yellow moong daal
half a bowl of mixed vegetables(peas potato bottle gourd carrots}
turmeric powder
Method:Wash rice and daal.Add water,salt,turmeric powder,vegetables and cook on low flame for about 3-4 whistles.Let it be a semi solid consistency which is easy to feed your baby.

4.Rawa upma

2-3 tbsp semoline
tomato and beetroot puree about 2-3 tbsp
Method;Heat ghee.Roast semoline to a light pink colour.Add hot water and keep stirring,add the puree and salt.Make a semi solid  consistency and feed your baby.

5.Rice water:

boiled rice 
Method: boil the rice , strain the excess water & then mash a rice into it add salt and ghee let the consistance be in liquid form and feed your baby

Recipes for 1 -2 years old baby 

Being a parent is a privilege.An opportunity to grow along with your  baby.Watching your baby bloom from a new born to a toddler is a beautiful experience.And the experience is equally challenging.Feeding your little one can be so much fun in spite of the challenges.You as a parent need to find new recipies your  baby can enjoy,help him discover new taste,likes and dislikes,.So here a few feeding tips to start with.

  • Bring variety in your baby's diet
  • Make sure to monitor if your baby is allergic to the new food introduced
  • Plan the feeding time to match the time of the day when he is hungry  like mornings or after a nap during the day.
  • Transition from liquid to solid food must be rather gradual
  • It takes time for a baby to develop taste hence have patience and keep trying
1.Fruit smoothie:

Fruit of your choice(banana apple chickoo mango)
milk half a glass
1 tbsp oats
2 dates
2 almonds
Method:Blend all the dry ingredients in a jar.Add milk and blend again.Consistency of the smoothie should be semi solid form.Its a relishing drink fulfilling your baby and keeps him happy for a few hours.It is advised to use seasonal fruits.

2:Oatmeal pancakes:

2-3 tbsp oatmeal
2-3 tbsp wheat flour
2 tbsp all purpose floor
2 tbsp sugar
a pinch salt
1 tbsp oil
milk to make a batter
Method:Grind oats in a blender.Add all the ingredients to make a smooth batter.Heat a griddle and add a spoon of batter.Spread evenly.When the sides leave flip over.Cook for a few minutes and its ready.since its soft its easy to feed the pancake to your baby.
3:Moong daal dosas:

Green gram daal
chopped spinach
Method:Wash and soak daal for a few hours.Grind the daal to a smooth batter.Add salt and finely chopped spinach.Heat a griddle and pour a spoonful of batter and spread evenly.Sprinkle ghee on the sides.Flip over and cook until light brown.The dosa is ready to be served with tomato sauce.Its a healthy and filling meal.

4:Flavoured paneer

homemade paneer 2-3 cubes
fruit of your choice
Method:Take freshly made paneer.Make a pulp of ripe fruit of your choice
(MANGOO CHICKOO STRAWBEERY)Mix paneer and the pulp and a yummy meal is ready for your loved one.

5.Broken wheat kheer:

2 tbsp broken wheat
1 cup milk
2 tbsp sugar
almond powder
Method:heat ghee in a pan.Roast broken wheat to a light pink colour.Add milk and cook until soft.Add sugar cardamom and almond powder.Keep the kheer in a semi solid  consistency.A mouth watering kheer is ready for your baby.

    Your baby is new to solid food,so special care should be taken our his preference.Let him enjoy the food and develop likes and dislikes.parents are advised to take special efforts in preparing the food regarding the freshness and nutritive contents.This is a journey to a healthy upbringing of your loved one.
